KETOPROFEN TRANSDERMAL

TOPICAL GEL OR CREAM

 

Medication:

Ketoprofen

 

Use:

Ketoprofen is used to treat inflammation and to provide analgesia or eliminate pain.

 

Side Effects:

The product may cause local irritation to the site of administration after it is applied. If this occurs, patients should discontinue use of the medication and notify their physician or pharmacist. Patients may also experience a feeling of warmth or coolness. This is considered normal and does not indicate an allergic reaction.

 

Precautions:

This product may contain lecithin. Persons allergic or sensitive to egg whites may have skin reactions to this product. Patients should not use this medication if they are hypersensitive to ketoprofen or any other non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory agents, such as aspirin, ibuprofen or ketoprofen (brand names include Advil, Nuprin, Aleve, Orudis KT, and Actron).

 

Directions:

Patients should use this medication as directed by their physician or pharmacist. Patients should apply the medication to clean areas of the skin.

 

Storage:

This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, at controlled room temperature, protected from air and light.

 

Dosing:

Generally one dose is contained within 1 pump (when packaged in pump dispenser) of the topical gel or cream and is applied to the affected area twice a day.

 

Cost:

The cost varies due to individualized patient drug therapy.
