MUCOUS MEMBRANE POWDER "BANDAGE"
Medication: This compounded prescription contains any/or all of the following: Acyclovir, Triamcinolone, and Benzocaine.
Use: This medication is used to treat viral infections of the oral mucous membranes that include canker sores.
Side Effects: Side effects of this medication can include stinging at site of placement, or numbness.
Precautions: Patients should contact their physician if possible side effects become persistent or bothersome. Do not use if known allergy to any of the components.
Directions: This medication is administered with a powder "puffer" and is generally 5 mg of the medication is dispensed.
Patient Instructions for use of Oral Mucosal Bandage: 1. Wet affected area with water. 2. "Puff' powder bandage lightly on affected area. 3. Wet the area. 4. Repeat #2. 5. Wet the area. 6. Repeat #2. 7. Wet the area. When using in mouth DO NOT inhale powder, hold breath when puffing powder on. The mucosal bandage should remain in place 3 or 4 hours, repeat application as needed. STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE WILL OBTAIN THE BEST RESULTS.
